; My ideal MI school would be located in the northern part of Wisconsin in the woods on a lake. The opportunities for learning are endless for all the intelligences. The teachers would be facilitator, people who had a strongest intelligence. They would be committed members and experts in their field. They would serve as a resource to the children. The courses would be generated from what the children wanted to study. The children would first spend a week exploring the area. Then they would brain storm a list of what could be studied. Plans and materials would be gathered. The children would live at the school. They would start their day with some kind of exercise like hiking, kayaking, climbing or something they are trying to develop. Then they would eat and start there day by moving through the pods that have been formed around such things as plants and animals of the area, measuring and calculating the age of the trees and depths of the water. They could study the songs of the birds and use that song to develop their own song. Each child will have a laptop computer to record what they learned and for research. There would be a well stocked flow room which the children go to each day. The day would end with the children sharing what they learned that day. Everyone would gain from this kind of sharing. This would become their learning portfolio. I would love a teach at a school like this.

My ideal school would be located in really any place. However, since I have an unlimited source of income; my students would be responsible for coordinating and developing ongoing trips to various parts of the world. We, the teachers and students would be students of the world and earth citizens. I would expect the best and brightest teachers who are passionate about MI and children. Their role would be to facilitate with the students the learning expeerience. So, if we were to go to Greenland; we would be exploring costs; of getting there and living there and the financial status of the country, distance from US and developmental, social,
economic and historical changes of Greenland.
Once there my teachers and students would live with the people of the country for a 6 month period to experience life as a native Greenlander. We would take in the culture, music, arts, sports, and flora and fauna. My teachers would compare and contrast to American culture and society and team teach with Greenland teachers. The classes themselves would be made up of students from both countries.

Since we need to think of ourselves
as global students; I think this process would be extremely helpful in utilizing MI. Both students and teachers would grow, understanding a variety of cultures and lifestyles.

Every 6 months we would move to a different continent and complete our education in the usual 4 year time for high school students. Since the internet is such a part of life; we would keep in touch with families through IM, blogs, cell phones and on rare occasions stop in to visit them.

My ideal school would be located in the mountains of Colorado. I would buy 2 large buildings. Like an old storage shed or barn and the staff and students together would create a living area and a learning area. Math skills would be implemented during the remodeling process. Like how to build something square by using a+b=c. Other math skills would be intertwined throughout their stay. Math would be presented as close to real world as possible. I do have visions of a gigantic math chart on a large wall.

The main theme of this school would be "learn by doing." It would be only open to middle school students. It would be more like a camp than a school. Students would be tricked into learning.

PE activities would be hiking and mountain biking in the summer and skiing and snow boarding in the winter. Fishing, horsebacking riding, and rock climbing would also be available.

Students and staff would have to cook their own meals (stressing fractions and measurement)and clean their own dishes together. There would be a wide variety of healthy foods available. I believe not eating properly (and skipping breakfast) is a huge reason for the increasingly overweight student population.

There would be finest computers made available and students would use the internet to research and purchase books they wanted to read and slowly a library would be developed. Students would be able to chat/blog with others who are interested in the same likes or dislikes. Students would be given more free time to read instead of having a reading class.

Science class would be more of a nature study. They would first learn of all the organisms that live near them and the surrounding area of the mountains. Experiments would be a daily ritual. With my vision (with an unlimited budget) the class would look something like Myth Busters on the Learning Channel.

This would be a fun place to learn and a great place to work...I am thinking something like the cabin turned hospital in the movie Patch Adams.

My first thought that comes in to my mind is I want a school that is community oriented. I would prefer a place thaat is closer to a large city. Students would be able to use the community for a variety of resources. I would prefer the school to be close to a larger city for field trips. Since money is not a issue, there would be aides for all teachers. I would like the staff that is open-minded and cooperative.

The available programs would be similar to what we have in most schools. Class sizes would be not more than 15 students.

Each student will be given aptitude test and MI evaluations. The school would have an Assessment Specialist, Student -Currirulum Broker and School-Community Broker.

Students would be able to track their area of expertise. However, they must take classes for survival in the real world such as social problems, parenting, leadership, and of course the core areas. MI would be the base for currirulum development.

The school would have an Art Gallery, Theatre, Greenhouse, Media Studio, Restaurant, Day Care (for community), weather room, campus store, mechanics shop, outside forestry lab, athletic facility with pool, etc. Students would have first hand experiences to choose careers for their future.

In this fairy tale school I would like support for all the community, support for programs, and no whining!!!! Above all students would be given the guidance for them to feel successful in the real world. I believe we do not just teach to the future doctors, scientists, but to all.

In setting up a school with unlimited funds I would first change my name to Trump and then off we would go. First we would meet with Bill Gates and the other CEO's of Microsoft and examine the design and workings of his company, including the financial implications. Music- well let's go tour New York and Boston to hear symphonies, operas, Broadway musicals, rock concerts, and a visit to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. We would of course meet with the greatest athletic trainers and practice with the baseball team at Fenway Park, the basketball team would travel around the world playing the best high school basketball teams while visiting historical places of all sorts. History class would jet off to Greece, Rome, Egypt, and Paris to of course visit the Louvre. Of course we would have trained counselors and therapists on the trip to foster discussion of the sites seen and to reflect on the sites seen. We would climb the Mayan ruins, hike around the Niagara Falls, and cayak down the rushing waters in the Rocky Mountains. We would come home in June. And pick up another group for next year.
